The Secret Entrance...

The secret entrance to John Forrest National Park is not something that those who know about it share. It takes you along paths that meander through virgin forest, granite outcrops with the glorious sound of rushing water.
There is also a small billabong, which this time of year is full, complete with its own tiny waterfall. The bushland is beginning to become a vibrant tapestry of loveliness as colour bursts forth as flowers open. In the understory, scuttling can be heard as I pass by, waking reptiles perhaps coming out to bask in the spring sunshine, or maybe quendas who dash away at the sounds of my footsteps?
I was coming to see one of my special places, one that I have come to name the sleeping serpent, because of the way it appears to be a slumbering snake.
The Rainbow Serpent is said the be beneath the foothills  of the Darling Range after creating the waterways, this stunning granite cluster feels to me she's lying beneath.
From different vantage points she gives off a different vibration, but she always draws me in, to come and sit with her awhile.
This particular day though, there were many others out clambering over her.
So I bided my time and went to her when the time was right.
To sit upon her and feel her calming energy buzzing up into my body.
Communing with her is a sacred time.
And one I prefer to do alone.

Moving back down to the track I took in the majestic beauty of this ancient land.
Words cannot express the feeling, so I shall not try to relay it here.
I also found that since my last visit there is a new bridge that has been placed over the stream that feeds Hovea Waterfall
This is to protect the delicate land from being damaged by those who don't understand the fragile balance of the bush.

As always, other things caught my attention along the way, from ant holes, the body of a dragonfly and many other scenes.
There was a lot of acacia wattle out, which is referred to as possum popcorn, the little fluffy yellow flowers bring such joy to the landscape, and food to many.
The day was warm and mostly the only sounds to be heard was that of the water rushing along its path and birds serenading from the trees...
