Returning To...

Returning to John Forrest National Park, but this time from the main entrance. The park was established as a conservation area  in 1900 which makes it Western Australia's oldest National Park. In this part of the park there are a few different spots to have a picnic, my favourite part is where the fairy huts are found.
There used to be more of these beautiful little huts, but over the years they have dwindled down to only a few, with one actually quite well hidden. They are a great place to settle down to take in the view or enjoy a leisurely lunch.
In this area Jane Brook was dammed and it was used as a swimming area, now though swimming has been banned. But to be honest, by the height of summer there isn't usually much water left in the brook, so swimming would not be possible.
There was also a lot of stonework done in the early 1900's creating walkways and seating areas scattered about around the dam.
I particularly love the carving of the large bobtail lizard in the children's play area, which thankfully is created out of wood to blend into the natural scenery.
When Jane Brook is running and the dam full this area comes to life with the sound of rushing water, I was surprised though not see any birds, apart from one lone female magpie...
