Once Again...

Once again I found myself on the outskirts of the city, this time at Queen's Gardens.
Located in East Perth, the gardens were opened in 1899, and named after Queen Victoria in honour of her diamond jubilee. The lakes that are filled with water lilies, at one point were clay pits used for making bricks.

The levels of the lakes were worryingly low, in parts the birds were walking on mud.
The two black swans were going about their grooming rituals, quite a distance apart. As they groomed they constantly called out to each other. Many other birds were relaxing on the drenched lawn, only a few were on the water.

In the warmer months the lakes are full of blooming water lilies, I already sense a spring walk in the air.
Although it is winter, there were still quite a few plants in flower.
The garden favours traditional European plants, with a few tropical ones scattered about. They have however put in a small native flower garden, a recent addition by the looks. And a small food garden.

There's also a replica of the Peter Pan statue found in Kensington Gardens in London...

I am absolutely thrilled 🤗 to see these beautiful photos. Here in Montreal we have serious heat 🥵 🔥 and humidity and the wildfires. Thank you 😊 🙏 💓 so much, dear friend, for sharing this post and photos.
