Bells Rapids...

Bells Rapids is found along a section of the Avon River, and about 22 kilometres from Chidlow. During the summer months this part of the river dries up, and mostly all you can find is a small puddle.
Once a year, in August, the Avon Decent is run. A white water race, if the river is running high enough.
It has been cancelled in the past due to lack of rain.
As you can see, once the river is full, all these massive rocks will be hidden beneath the water.
And further up the river is far more dangerous. With even larger obstacles laying out of sight.
I will go back in the next week or so to see how the level is going. With August not far away, I am dubious about whether the event will be held this year...
