A Cape Barren Goose chilling out under a tree is not a sight I see often, come to think of it, I don't recall seeing any before.
They are one of the rarest of the worlds geese. And rather beautiful too. They are mainly found in South Australia and Tasmania, so this one is a long way from it's normal territory. These geese don't normally swim, they usually only take to the water if their chicks are threatened. They can also tolerate drinking salty and brackish water. They are herbivores, and feed on grass, leaves, seeds and stems...
