Purple Swamphens I find make the perfect subject to photograph, especially when they grooming themselves. There's a family of Swamphens at Lake Leschenultia which are quite tolerant of nosey humans with cameras.
There was also two fledgling grebes which looked somewhat terrified at not being able to locate their parents.
I can imagine how they felt. So tiny and vulnerable in a huge scary world.
My last encounter this day was with a lone kookaburra lingering upon a branch...

Beautiful photos and lovely reflections.
I love that red beak! Yesterday I watched the first episode of a 3-part documentary about the area in Australia called The Kimberly. Wow, what spectacular images and what an amazing array of birds and animals. I can't wait to see the 2nd episode.
Purple Swamphens - what a name - do they just have one leg?
The Kimberley is a stunning place, I might see if I can find the documentary myself and watch it.
