Swan Valley Station...

Swan Valley Station is a place I had not heard of before last week, apparently it has been open for around four years. It has a cafe, gift shop, nursery and a sculpture trail. It sounded interesting so I decided to go and have a look.
It had a quirky feel as I approached the entrance, there seemed to be quite the array of garden pots and decorations to choose from. The nursery was not large and many of the plants were very established, all looked healthy. The cafe is not somewhere I would recommend visiting.
At the rear of the property there is a small dam which is filled with marron (a small crayfish) you can go there and catch them. That put me off a bit as well, being a vegetable eater, I don't think I would enjoy watching people doing that. Thankfully there was no one partaking in the activity the day I went. I was grateful of that.
I did find the sculpture park rather cute; it did have room for a bit of imagination to bring the place alive. Some flower gardens and places to sit by the water. It was a hot day when I went and there was no shade, and it was really very hot walking around the dam. A pergola or two with climbing plants would really make a difference and a few big shady trees or even umbrellas. Most of the sculptures were really lifelike. I found the crocodile enclosure funny; I am sure I am not the only person to titter to myself.
My favourite was the long-necked native turtle, close second, the blue tongued lizard.
I did pick up a couple of things for the garden, one being a bee gnome. I am really into bee things at the moment.
I would go back here if I was looking for something for the garden, but I think that will be when the weather begins to cool down, so that means next year....
