Bronzewing pigeons are a familiar sight in my garden, there's a large flock that dwell in the back garden, plus a few who favour the quieter more secluded front garden. They are very timid birds, they are also extremely nervous and will fly for cover at a seconds notice.
There's plenty of water bowls and birdbaths scattered through the garden, as a species they tend to stay close to water sources.
They get on well with the chickens, and tolerate the quendas hopping about.
Their bronze coloured inner wing feathers are only noticeable when they are sunbathing with their wings outstretched upwards.
They also have colourful patches on the outside of their wings, which when in the sun really stand out.
They have a oom oom sounding call, as well as softer cooing which most pigeons do.
I am pleased that so many reside in my garden, at times around thirty or more...

You have a stunning range of pigeons in Australia, all of them beautiful. It’s hard to have a favourite, but Topknot Pigeon ranks high in my book.
Bronzewing pigeons - they were very pretty and unusual.
Wow, how beautiful the pigeons are... they're something special!
That's a bird that is new to me and it's a pretty one.
