Recently, Martin Jaine Sculptures closed its gates in Bassendean for the last time. There still isn't anything online saying where his studio has been moved to, or if he's retired.
I was really sad to see this marvellous dragon disappear, along with every other sculpture.
Over the years I shared many of his amazing works. I was always fascinated how he created his sculptures out of junk metal. His sculptures range from tiny to huge.
Now, I have a thing about turning down random roads to see where they lead. But I rarely do that when I am out exploring somewhere I've never been before. Because basically, I haven't travelled any of the roads before!
I recently went to Bindoon.
And I have never been to Bindoon before.
Bindoon is a little country town around 85 kilometres from the city of Perth, it's a little further from where I live.
Anyway, on a whim I decided to take a right turn off the highway and then just up ahead I see my favourite dragon sculpture.
I could hardly believe my eyes.
Many of the other sculptures were scattered around a field behind him.
It's definitely a far different set up to the classy establishment he had in Bassendean, but then perhaps he's still getting things sorted after such a monumental move, or just wanted to go a little more rustic?
I shall keep checking his website for any updates about this new location...
