A Golden Winters Morning....

A golden winters morning and the garden was brimming with an abundance of colour and activity.

Many of the native plants in the garden are either flowering or, in bud.
Birds are busily building nests and the ducks are beginning to return to relax in the garden, over winter the ducks fly elsewhere and only a resident few visit during the colder months.

The two flower meadows are bushy and beginning to flower.
In the larger of the two the snapdragons and calendula have been flowering continuously since last spring. Now there are many plants growing taller each day. In the raised garden flower meadow, my first tiny harvest of buckwheat is ready.

The mulberry and fig tree are sprouting new growth and there is going to be a good harvest of potatoes, blueberries and broad beans.
I also have some fennel and artichoke doing well.

There are several species of fungi in different parts of the garden, it is always exciting finding these springing up, normally where I least except them to be.
The appearance of fungi normally indicates healthy soil, so I happy that there are so many varieties present.
Underneath the ground is where the real magic of fungi takes place with the vast networks of mycelium.

Charlie and Bear were also out enjoying the sunshine and observing and stalking the birds all well out of their reach...

You wonder what the cats are thinking.

I think they are pretty overwhelmed with all the outside action.
