East Perth...

East Perth is about as close that I get to the city centre, and it's only this particular spot next to the Swan River that I go to.
This is mainly because of the work that has been done alongside the river to create habitat for wildlife, otherwise I'd avoid the area completely.
I ventured down here in early September, which actually feels like a lifetime ago.
Unlike previous visits there wasn't a great deal of birds about, which was disappointing. In the past when I have been down here, the area was buzzing with life in and around the water.
There at least was a colourful show of wildflowers in the manicured gardens that surrounds the ornamental lake, and a few proud parents around with offspring.
I did leave somewhat deflated given how the numbers of birds had lessened since my previous visit several years prior...
