Taking a leisurely drive winding through the foothills the 58 kilometre journey passed by pleasantly as I made my way to Armadale. Minnawarra Park was my destination.
I had passed this park before, always struck by it's inviting vista.
It was an extremely windy day which set me off into a fit of giggles. I always feel exhilarated in windy conditions, it's well known that wind can trigger laughter because of it's playful and unpredictable nature, I am most definitely a giggler when out on a windy day, the stronger the wind the more euphoric I feel.
The fountains in the middle of the lake were doing their best to keep the water cascading despite the powerful gusts that would blow the water sideways. Interestingly though, the water was relatively calm.
There was a huge flock of corella's which kept taking flight and flying in circles, screeching with glee as they did so. Each time, I gazed upward smiling uncontrollably.
Joy is contagious.
Although Minnawarra Park is next to a really busy road, I didn't seem to notice the endless stream of traffic.
Minnawarra means "place of the gum blossom.
Gum blossom was important to aboriginal culture, especially the river red gum. The gum trees were used in a variety of ways, for food and materials for medicinal purposes. Wood used for a variety of tools and weapons.
This is such a beautiful park, there's plenty of shade and lovely expanses of grass for a picnic, or maybe just to sit and watch the antics of the wildlife...
