I caught up with a friend yesterday, who has just returned from a solo road trip around Australia. The most amazing place he talked about was the 6,000 year fire in NSW, (New South Wales.)
The place is called Burning Mountain and sits atop a underground coal stream. Apparently, no one knows how deep the fire goes. He said that the hike up the mountain was quite strenuous, yet well worth it...

You mean that fire has been burning 6000 years?
Gorgeous photo.
I've never heard of this before. What a fascinating place to visit.
Yes, so the scientists believe.
