Sunny days are perfect for the chickens to enjoy the joy of a dust bath. Dust baths are essential for chickens maintaining good health, as strange as that might seem to those who have never known the pleasure of free range chickens.
This assists in keeping external parasites at bay, the dust bath also keeps their feathers clean. Weird I know. It is normally a communal event, where the girls chatter to each other. Sometimes though, I will find one hen dust bathing on her own.
Sunny days are also perfect for sitting in the garden, watching the world go by, taking in the beauty of the flowers.
And of course admiring the striking rose chested cockatoos...
