Peninsula Farm

Penninsula Farm is found at Wu-rut Woorat on the banks of Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) it's one of the few remaining homes from the 1800's from when the white settlers arrived.
It wasn't the house I came to see, but to have a walk along Derbal Yerrigan. The trees were filled with birds, so I was in my element. Everything I love surrounding me. Two wood ducks had chicks high up in a tree hollow and their doting parents were standing guard. There was also a large flock of rainbow lorikeets, which were feasting on gum blossoms. I stood watching one as it scrambled through the leaves. They really have such vibrant feathers, yet even with this beautiful plumage they can be difficult to spot. There was also a very friendly Willie wagtail who followed me around. These birds are the largest of Australia's fantails, they are bold and cheeky birds, despite their tiny size.
There was also plenty of lovely vistas to enjoy and many ancient trees that still stood strong after many decades. I have often thought how wonderful it would be to have a conversation with a tree, what fascinating tales they could tell...
