Inside Mammoth Cave...................
Inside Mammoth Cave was astounding, the silence of the earth calling to me, willing me to go as deeper into the depths of our mothers womb..............
There were no other people inside the cave for most of our visit which I appreciated, I needed to walked in muted communion with the presence I felt around me...........
As always when I find myself venturing into caves I wanted to go further, finding a hidden opening and slipping quietly from the tourist path, going into the realms of an ancient past, a world that is fascinating and somehow so intrinsically familiar to me.............
I felt warm, even as the icy air wrapped its tentacles of shivery fingers around me, safe from the noisy world above, one where I feel so out of place, lonely, misplaced.................
Leaving here would be difficult, I felt at home, contented and secure. To find such peace in the depths of darkness confused me, yet also inspired me.
In a world that is fast loosing its appeal for me I seek the silent solitude that only my Mother Earth can give me.......................
