International Cat Day...

International Cat Day is celebrated world wide on August 8th. 

It began in 2002 by The International Fund of Animal Welfare, as a way of bringing awareness of cats and promoting ways to help and protect them.

Being a day of celebrating cats, which incidentally happens daily in my realm, cat owners are encouraged to celebrate their feline companions.

Obviously, I need little encouragement in celebrating my beautiful feline companions, but I will make sure they have an extra special treat for dinner.

As well as celebrating fabulous felines, this day also prompts cat owners to keep their cats safe, taking steps to setting up places for their cats to watch wildlife safely. To also consider supporting cat rescue centres, and to adopt a cat in need of possible.

I thought it fitting to share some fun time moments of Miss Bear and Charlie enjoying the sunshine on a far too warm winters day, living their best lives safe and utterly adored and pampered...

 

And One Day...

 

A Very Friendly...

A very friendly ring necked parrot decided to help itself to a bite of my friends lunch. After deciding it wasn't to his liking, it was spat out over the side of the table.

Obviously, human foods aren't healthy for birds, but try explaining that to them!

The Village Cafe at Whiteman Park has resident ring necked parrots, magpies and ravens who perch around the cafe on the look out for a friendly table to fly down to. Whiteman Park draws in locals and visitors from other countries in droves as there is a wildlife park within the park as well as many trails through bushland where many families of kangaroo's lazing about. Mussel Pool is also in the grounds, as well a miniature train line and tram. So there's plenty to do. 

I was very surprised however by how many people appeared frightened of these gorgeous birds, as they were not in the least bit aggressive. 

I found it really quite lovely having a magpie sat on the seat next to me, patiently waiting in case any crumbs would be left on my friends plate...

 

A New Pair...

A new pair of boots are set to brighten up my hiking attire. This was the only pair left, and they are slightly big for me, but thick socks should solve that issue...

Noticing This Colourful...

Noticing this colourful building when driving through the suburbs, I took a few minutes to get a closer look.

There is a movement across Perth to turn drab bland buildings into works of art, which transforms public outdoor spaces into art galleries.

I love stumbling across them in my travels...

 

I Assembled A New...

I assembled a new cardboard scratch box a couple of weeks ago for the kitty kids, filling it with catnip as a finishing touch.

I have learnt over the years after having many kitty companions, cardboard is one of their favourite things to play with and scratch.

I no longer waste money on expensive cat scratchers, because they simply never seem to be interested

This two tiered rocking horse version is one I had never come across before, and it does have a slight rocking movement...

 

Nature Is Full...

 Nature is full of oddities, and this mist is one of the oddest things I have seen.

It actually felt somewhat spooky slowly lingering above the road. 

Mist is a phenomenon that creates some stunning visuals, yet, this literally was jaw dropping for me.

One never knows what wonders awaits them each day...

Mary Carroll Park...

Mary Carroll Park is a place I had never of, at the beginning of July I drove out to have a look. 

Apparently the area was somewhat delerict until a massive revamping of the area was done. 

This included an upgrade to the wetlands with a couple of new bridges across the water, giving stunning views across the small lake. 

It also has a new play area and there was a mention of a yarning circle, however I failed to find that.

The water level at the time I visited the park was very low, and given the lack of rain and warm weather over the past month, I can't see it being full enough for the sweltering summer months ahead.

There were plenty of banded stilts out on the lake feeding, along with a variety of ducks. A local told me there were black swans here, I however failed to see them.

I noticed an assortment of mushrooms and fungi along the very short walk around the park, and only a few pops of colour from native flowers as it was too early for wildflowers to be blooming fully...
