A couple of locals were keeping an eye on me as I went to check the progress of the artichoke flowers. There is already a lot of interest from various insects and bees. The weather has been dreadfully hot, to me the flowers look rather dehydrated despite making sure I hydrate the plant each night. It's rather similar to a lotus flower, albeit a spiky one...

I love seeing your colorful neighbors admiring your garden. I just had a delicious grilled artichoke the other day. Of course, it was harvested before it could bloom.
