My cow itch tree, or Norfolk Island hibiscus is currently in flower, and what a show she's putting on. Earlier in the year I gave her a really good pruning. The results are more flowers on the tree than ever before. Bees and birds disappear in amongst the branches feasting on the succulent blooms. She really is impressive this year.
It's called cow itch tree because you get really really itchy when cutting the branches. The seed pods are extremely itchy as well.
In the back of the garden the artichoke buds are extremely slow in unfolding, I am getting a little impatient I have to admit. Still, anything worth waiting for is normally worth the wait.
Nearer to the cottage, honeysuckle is filling the air with the most delicious scent...
