Bath Time

Bath time for this Willy Wagtail who, with her family come to bathe in my birdbaths everyday. Sitting close by watching silently as she took her time to enjoy her few moments of solitude as the other members of her family went to forage in the front garden. Standing on the back of one of the sun loungers was the perfect place to dry, fluffing up her feathers and shaking off the excess water in a delightfully dainty way. How delicate birds are, especially these little angels. Watching the marvel of her captivated me, mesmerized by the miracle of life. Deep in thought for a moment, perhaps pondering where to fly to next, maybe she will join the rest of her brood who I can still hear playfully calling to one another just over the fence. Retreating into the real world that surrounds me caresses me so, it touches me where nothing else in the false materialistic mechanical human world can, nature is real, it is spirit in motion, giving us glimpses of perfection if only we take the time to still ourselves and observe..............

Thank you for introducing me to the Willy Wagtail, a bird I've never heard of. Such a lovely creature! I'm looking for the perfect hummingbird feeder to join our regular bird feeder and the niger seed feeder.
