Blossom has resumed her favourite summer position in the front room, an indication that spring is here and the warmer weather is fast approaching. I do not share her enthusiasm at all, I do not enjoy the summer months here, the days are too hot, the sun far to harsh, the heat relentless. At the moment the weather is enjoyable, not too hot, with cool breezes and cloudy skies. You can go for a walk or ride your bike in comfort, not sweating uncontrollably or gasping for breath. Even the seaside is more enjoyable in spring, okay perhaps it is not hot enough to swim, you can enjoy a walk, or a beach side picnic without burning to a crisp and running for shelter before the midday heat makes it unbearable to remain outside. I do not like the sweltering heat, the frayed tempers of people around you as the heat wears them down. We have the luxury of a pool this year, maybe this will help. Perhaps we won't venture as far this year seeking a oasis to bring us respite from the draining sweltering heat, instead we will linger by the pool reading and relaxing our way through the summer, well I shall in any case. We will finally have a back garden to relax in and have no need to drive around endlessly in search of somewhere to go to be cool or to relax, we will be able to achieve this in our own home, at last.
